In an athleisure day in age, there's Koral

Hey guys!  Lately, workout clothes have been a huge topic amongst my girlfriends. So many feel if they just had cuter clothes for their sweat sesh, they would be more motivated to workout. As a women, I'll admit that  I also find myself  annoyed with putting on the same workout clothes time and time again. And with the booming market of fitness and athleisure, it make's sense that we want the latest trends. After all, it's 2018 and sporty leggings aren't just for the gym-- workout clothes have become a staple of our daily wardrobe.

I wanted to share with you one of my favorite go to athletic apparel brands, Koral! With so many brands on the market offering so many styles, this one stands out by far.  The pieces hold there shape and color even after multiple washes and wearing regularly. One of my pet peeves is when stitching starts to fall out and the fabric's elasticity starts to give. No one wants to get caught hiking up your sagging tights or re adjusting the top so things stay in place! Been there and done that.

Whether you do cross fit, yoga, run or lift like myself Koral offers many sleek , fun styles!  Im wearing the Emblem Versatility Bra and Emblem Cropped Legging (pictured above).

Im curious if men are as particular about their workout clothes as women? I would love to hear everyone's feed back.!

Fitness on the go, things to take with you

Just because you're going away for the weekend doesn't mean you can't take a few things with you to help  give you an  effective workout. It's always nice having the option to workout should you get that burst of energy, inspiration or maybe you're just feeling really guilty after eating that cake and more... Weekend getaways are for you and that means coming back to work feeling refreshed and energized. A few things I love traveling with are my mat, jump rope and set of 5 lb weights.  Whether you use the mat for low impact workouts, stretching or meditating its always nice to have. Here's what I did this weekend while staying in the high desert where the air is thick, and the sun is hot.

Dynamic Stretching works best for the pre workout: Movements in-between gently warming up the muscles while keeping the body in motion.

Static Stretches work best with warmed up muscles/post workout: Hold each stretch for 20-30 sec. To get the ultimate benefits of lengthening muscle fibers and felxibilty it's important to hold no less the 20 sec with each stretch.

Jump Rope for 30 min. Get to know your body and see where you're at. Rest when needed. And remember to engage your core muscles using as a stabilization.

Now using your 5 lb weights here are a few exercises I love.

Ab Twist: This my favorite! You can also modify it to give yourself an even deeper workout. Sit on your mat with your knees bent and your feet flat. Make sure your tail bone is tucked under to prevent injuries and slightly lean back to a 45- angle. Holding one weight with both your left and right hand slowly twist to each side engaging those abs. I like to do 3 set's of 30-40 reps. If your a beginner start with 3 set's of 15 reps.

Modify: You can raise legs to table top position. Engage the core muscles even more.

Modify: You can add a hold and lift in the center before twisting to each side. Take your time between each action holding 2 sec.  If you feel any strain to your back or neck, stop and adjust!

Shoulder Press: Feet planted hip length apart slight bend in the knee to prevent over extension. Take set of dumbbells held straight above your head. Slowly bend your elbows and lower weights until they are in line with your shoulders. Without stopping continue back in starting position. I like to do 3 sets of 20-25 reps.

Modify: You can add another step bringing the weights down to your chest. Creating a larger motion. Remember to tuck your pelvis under not putting pressure on your lower back.

Have fun! Health and wellness always first. Have great weekend!

Entering a new chapter... blogging

Have you come to a point in your life when you realize you just might  have out grown your original childhood  dream? The one  that has kept you alive, inspired you and kept you trenching on through your most challenging moments?  It was a dark yet liberating time for me.  I've been modeling and acting for the last 14 years growing up in Canada now living in Los Angeles stuck in the same dream unsure how to alter it. Scared and falling into the darkness of failure, the darkness of all the voices I've encountered telling me to give up, you're not pretty enough, you're not tall enough, you have too many issues. After taking the last 2 years  to understand and reconnect with myself diving deep into self discovery I grasped the idea that I was evolving. That my needs had  shifted. That I was healing from traumatic events, which would alter my soul and shift me into lightness.  Im finally becoming one with the idea it's ok to grow. To reassess my dreams and give myself permission to dream up new ones, and so I have inspired to build upon them. In a society and industry so unforgiving, untruthful and harsh I felt alone. Seeking truth, connection, love and inspiration. I felt the need to connect and share my stories, my love, my thoughts and my dreams with you. To encourage others to be open and allow themselves to be seen for who they are so we can lift each other up  and gently encourage others with our lives.

Have  you ever  felt you out grew your dreams? I would love to hear about it!
